Training in Aspley

A sports centre and green space.

Aspley takes its name from aspen trees and became a large council estate in the early 20th century, 3 miles west of the city centre. Minver Crescent Sports Centre is its community hub, with a sports hall, an air-conditioned dance studio and activities for children, teenagers and over-50s. Nottingham Gaelic Football and Hurling Club and Wollaton Hall & Bramcote FC also play here.

The ward includes Broxtowe Country Park, over 46 hectares with a cycle path, plus Melbourne Park, the King George V Playing Fields and the Quarry Holes nature reserve. For a gym, David Lloyd Nottingham is on Aspley Lane, and SOLID MMA is close by in Bobbers Mill.
