Training in Wilford
Pitches, fairways and a river.
Wilford is a village on a meander of the Trent that became part of the city in 1952. Most of its venues are for team sport and golf: Powerleague's five-a-side pitches, the Riverside Sports Complex, Nottingham Family Golf Centre, Dunkirk FC, the Nottingham Outlaws rugby league side and a walking football group. For the gym, PureGym Nottingham West Bridgford is on the list.
The Wilford Toll Bridge is now a footbridge across to Victoria Embankment, and Iremongers Pond and Ruddington Lane Park both hold Green Flag awards. A riverside run is a good way to meet a training partner here.
