Training in London

The youngest region in the country, and one of the most active.

London is the youngest region in the country (median age 35) and one of the most active: 66% of adults get 150 minutes or more of activity a week, above the England average of 64.6%. It's also where the UK gym market is growing fastest. The 2026 State of the UK Fitness Industry report found London had the biggest net increase in gym sites and the most members per gym of any region.

Training here comes in every format. There are council leisure centres in every borough, Olympic-legacy pools and arenas in Stratford, historic lidos from Tooting to Hampstead, and a dense layer of strength gyms, CrossFit boxes, fight clubs and boutique studios. In 2025 London hosted Hyrox's biggest race to date: 40,000 athletes at ExCeL.

What London doesn't make easy is finding your people. A city of nine million can still feel like you're training alone. Gymist is built for that: find the gyms near you, then find the people in them who train like you do.
