Training in Gracemount
A leisure centre hub and plenty of martial arts.
Gracemount grew from 1950s to 1970s housing between the old villages of Liberton and Gilmerton, and many of the wider area's amenities are here. Gracemount Leisure Centre has a 25 m pool, a gym, two fitness studios, a sauna and a sports hall, and was named Scottish Centre of the Year at the UK Active Awards. Martial arts are well covered, with Edinburgh Tae Kwon Do, UKTC Taekwondo and Tang Soo Do, and Edinburgh South Community Football Club and Soccer Stars Academy coach football. Drum Riding for the Disabled Centre offers riding.
The Braid Hills sit between Gracemount and the rest of the city. A local handball team, Gracemount Edinburgh Handball Club, trains at the high school, so there's more going on than first appears, and a training partner from round the corner is easy to find.
