Training in Longbridge

Chain gyms, martial arts and a view of the Lickeys.

For a century Longbridge meant cars: the plant built Austins from 1906 and MG Rovers until the company went into administration in 2005. The training on offer now is varied. PureGym and Trident Gym cover open-access lifting, and Urban Fitness and Sprint Gym add two more gyms. Team Renegade BJJ, Birmingham and Weoley Castle Shotokan Karate and Longbridge Lau Gar Kung Fu teach martial arts, and Pilates by Amber runs mat classes.

The Lickey Hills can be seen from Longbridge, and the country park's 524 acres climb to 298 m at Beacon Hill, a proper test for hill repeats. Longbridge station on the Cross-City line also serves Rednal, Rubery and West Heath, which widens the pool of people you could train with.
