Training in Hartley's Village
CrossFit, MMA and Pilates by the jam works.
Sir William Hartley built this village for key workers at his Aintree jam factory, with houses round a central bowling green and streets named after jam ingredients, such as Sugar Street and Cherry Row. It became a conservation area in 2011. The gyms around it include CrossFit River Mersey, Budokan MMA, Aintree Martial Arts, Ringside Fitness Box, FitBox L9, Cyclone Fitness Studio, The Fitness Academy and 11 Pilates.
For swimming there's Lifestyles Alsop, which pairs a pool with a gym, and Walton Hall Park has a fitness trail with keep-fit stations and a flat perimeter route that suits beginners. A training partner makes either easier to stick with.
