Training in Crosshill

A park on the doorstep.

Bowls is the old sport here. Hampden Bowling Club's ground is thought to be the site of the original Hampden Park, and a mural on its wall, visible from the railway, marks Scotland's 5-1 win over England there. Queens Park Bowling & Tennis Club and the Glasgow Club pavilion offer greens and courts, and you'll also find a calisthenics park, a basketball court and two yoga and wellbeing teachers, Balanced With Rosi and Yoga with Lainey.

Queen's Park covers 60 hectares, and its flagpole viewpoint reaches the Campsie Fells on a clear day. A free 5k parkrun has run there on Saturday mornings since 2019. Crosshill station is on the Cathcart Circle, so a training partner from elsewhere on the Southside can come by train.
