Training in Blairdardie
BMX, golf and lawns in the park.
Great Western Road cuts Blairdardie in two, and the open ground of Knightswood Park lies close to its southern half. That is where most of the sport is. Glasgow BMX Centre was built for the 2018 European Championships and is Scotland's only world and Olympic standard BMX track, with a 400 m race track and a smaller pump track for beginners. Around it are the council's Knightswood Golf Course, public tennis courts in the park and Glasgow Croquet Club, which welcomes complete beginners.
South Blairdardie runs down to the Forth and Clyde Canal, whose towpath is a long, flat line for running or cycling. Glasgow Life's BMX sessions run from March to September, and riding, golf or tennis are all easier to keep up with a regular partner.
